Now its time for us to ask questions about our test tomorrow:

  • What is Web 2.0 for you?
  • There wont be any questions about definitions
  •  Infos to what was written on the board
  • and other stuff (to lazy to write it all down)
  • oh no podcasting
  • social networking
  • blogs

GvA shows us the test, students took last year.

No more questions?

Class is done and we can go home study for our test tomorrow.

Oh and plans for tomorrow: red wine sponsored by GvA,everybody else should bring some cookies, etc.

Watching a video of  the “elektrischer Reporter”

Some big american dude with an extremly funny shirt (bright yellow with some red stripes)  is waving his hands in the air trying to explain APIs, reliabilities, social networks, and what they do to users (us!)

Talking about Facebook.

Facebook was the role model for Studi.vz. Facebook and Myspace are the biggest networks. It was supposed to be only for students but lots of people use it. 2008 there will be a German version of Facebook published.

It’s 1.08 pm and people are slowly coming back to class…

Caspar and I were listening to Paul Panzer’s “Internetz”

So, and now our class continues.

GvA has looked up the facts about studi.vz and their new  General Terms and Conditions Act. Now we’re discussing what to do, if we should quit our membership, what to fill out and what not, etc…

Characteristics of “open systems” - GvA shows us a power point presentation (can be found in our wiki!

Now we’re talking about “Open ID” which allows you to sign in at various platforms in one step and don’t have to sign in on eachidividual site. To do that you can go to myopenid.net. GvA is going to show us how to use it and what to use it for but somehow I don’t trust the whole thing (yet?).

God, it’s cold out!

After watching a few videos of Badesalz and co., our class continues.

GvA is telling us shocking things about studi.vz and how they will save data and use IM, Mails and calls for advertisment as of January 9th.

Continuing talking about the article of the Süddeutsche Zeitung,  in which Mr Graff has written and critizised blogs.  A discussion about blogs and comments starts. Should all comments be checked before published? Flo’s bringing up a case of some “Dr.” Stefan Mayerbacher.

Who calls TV shows such a “money maker” and 9Live at night? A discussion started.

Class contibues:

What are Walled Gardens?

  • systems in which communication is only possible within members
  • the 80ties: email (compuServe, BTX..)
  • Instant Messageing: ICQ, MSN messenger, AIM, etc
  • Cell phone networks
  • some social networks (xing, studi.vz. etc)

Advantages:

  •  privacy
  • beautiful people
  • homogeneus  target group
  • automatic spam

Disadvantages:

  • barriers (information flow)
  • limited networking
  • barriers (registration)
  • only for a  certain period of life
  • redundancy
  • some spam

Trend seems to be heading towards a more open system

Tobi continues: blogs used as a marketing tool:

  • relationship and information
  • service blogs
  • blogs with specific topics
  • camapgnes and flash blogs
  • label and product blogs
  • crisis blogs
  • PR blogs

Little discussion about blogs: what companies can use it? who should write the blog? who will read the blog? how to find out how useful PR blogs are?

Next “SWOT”-analysis, this time about blogs sponsoring and then continuing with the topic blog monitoring. Tobi mentions an example: “Spreeblick” wrote about Jamba

Conclusion of their presentation:  Web 2.0 is pretty new to us, most peope haven’t heard of it. However, it can be a great tool preparing presentations and keep the communication within companies going. It has a great potential and may get important more important for business comunnication.

Tobi continues.

Social software is the end of the “one voice policy” since everybody within the company can use it.

A huge chart is on the bord…here a picture of it:chart
