God, it’s cold out!

After watching a few videos of Badesalz and co., our class continues.

GvA is telling us shocking things about studi.vz and how they will save data and use IM, Mails and calls for advertisment as of January 9th.

Continuing talking about the article of the Süddeutsche Zeitung,  in which Mr Graff has written and critizised blogs.  A discussion about blogs and comments starts. Should all comments be checked before published? Flo’s bringing up a case of some “Dr.” Stefan Mayerbacher.

Who calls TV shows such a “money maker” and 9Live at night? A discussion started.

What are Walled Gardens?

• Instant Messageing: ICQ, MSN messenger, AIM, etc
• Cell phone networks
• some social networks (xing, studi.vz. etc)

Advantages:

•  privacy
• beautiful people
• homogeneus  target group
• automatic spam

Disadvantages:

• barriers (information flow)
• limited networking
• barriers (registration)
• only for a  certain period of life
• redundancy
• some spam

Trend seems to be heading towards a more open system
